Today I attended a baby shower for a wonderful expectant mom. All along I knew I wanted to make her gift but I didn't get started on it until last night. Yes, I am a pro in the procrastrination department.I ran to Michaels in between doctor appointments yesterday to pick up the toy box. I painted the base paint on and didn't have a clue what was going to be stenciled on it until about 10:00 this morning. The shower was at 1:00 so it was pretty much a rush job from that point on. I sprayed the last coat of sealer on it 10 minsutes before leaving for the shower. Whew...

Just a little Easter gift for co-workers

Last night, I decided to put together a little Easter gift for my co-workers. I had some little decorative jars from Hobby Lobby, so I made some flavored molded chocolates and filled the jars. Then I printed this image from the graphics fairy in 2 different sizes, one larger than the other. I cut a circle out of the larger one using my nestibilities to fit the top of the jar. The smaller one I used as a tag. I tied a piece of seam binding around the jar and attached a Prima flower and the tag with a mini-safety pin. Jute Silverware Holders

I have 50 yards of jute webbing. The majority of it has the black stitching in it and the rest has the red stitching. My original plan was to incorporate it into some pillows. And although I have seen several bloggers do that with great success, somehow I haven't got around to that yet. But recently, one day I was holding a strip of it in my hand, thinking there has to be something else I can use this for. I knew I was limited by the width of the webbing, but as I played with it, these cute little silverware holders were born. I didn't take any pictures while I was making these, so I will try to give you easy directions .

Cute a 13" length of jute webbing.
Fold the jute over towards the top front about 2/3 of the way up
If you are going to add lace (my first choice would have been a little box pleated strip of osnaburg) do that now. I stitched it on with my sewing machine.
Now measure how much room you have to add a patch with a graphic on it.
Print your graphic on a piece of fabric that will blend well with the jute.
Machine stitch to the front of the holder. After you have stitched it on, fray the edges all the way around..
I then machine stitched up the sides as close to the edge as I could as to not make the inside of the holder any smaller than I had to.
The last step: Fray the top of the back piece of webbing by pulling the jute that goes from side to side. Just keeping pulling it loose until your happy with the length that will be frayed. Reserve that string you just pulled out. To get it to have a soft frayed effect you will need to help it along a bit. First just rub your hand back and forth over it and then I took a whisk broom and briskly brushed back and forth.

Okay, now go find a large eye needle and thread it with that piece of jute you saved.
Cut another piece of webbing about 7 or 8 inches. Fold it in half, and then start stitching about 1" down from where the two ends meet. Then fray the 2 ends just like you did on the silverware holder. And.... you have a matching napkin ring. The possibilities are endless for embellishing these, but I left mine plain.

Ryder Field

I made this baseball themed plague for my grandson Ryder. It hangs like a shadowbox and was made out of a 12 X 24 piece of plywood which had some molding added to all sides even with the top of the plywood. The molding is a little wider than the thickness of the plywood so it created a bit of a ledge for it to hang by. I first paint the wood then stenciled the design on it. After distressing I added some walnut stain to give it a more aged look. Sorry about the glare on the picture. A Burlap Gift Sack

Thanks to a very special daughter, I have an abundance of large burlap sacks. I had a large gift to wrap, but knew wrapping paper would end up getting ripped. So, instead I utilized one of those sacks by painting a message on the front of it, tied a bow around it and called it done! I have been very absent from blogville over the last month and it doesn't look very good for showing up much between now and Christmas, so I want to take this opportunity right now to wish all of you wonderful bloggers and very happy, safe and blessed Christmas.

POTTERY BARN KNOCK OFF

I know, I know!!! These pillows are old news. Seems like every time I finally arrive to catch the train it has already left the station..LOL. I used Osnaburg fabric, created a stencil with my Cricut Expression and painted the design on with fabric paint.

Stool makeover

A few months ago I was asked if I could recover a stool. I said yes, and then it went in my garage. Out of sight...out of mind...I was having major problems motivating myself to get after it. I think I just lacked the confidence to feel it would turn out okay. The owner had given me free reign with her only request being that I put Tracy's kitchen on it.This guy was a sight for sore eyes. It had obviously been in an auto parts store and showed all the wear and tear of such.

After a friendly inquiry from the owner about a week ago, I decided I'd better get myself in gear. What was the worst that could happen?? No matter what I did to it, it had to be an improvement over the torn vinyl and greasy foam. So I disassembled it, replaced the foam, painted a design on canvas and reassembled. The hardest part was trying to get the canvas stretched on correctly. I used an electric staple gun (which with me as the operator requires 2 hands) so the fabric is not as taunt as I would have liked. BUT....mission was accomplished, the owner was happy.

My neighbors were cleaning out their garage this past weekend. As I was walking down the street I stopped to chat with them. I had earlier spotted this table and was very curious as to what they were going to do with it. They were getting rid of it and offered it to me for $5. There was no saying no to that. He even put it in his truck and carried it to my house for me. Now, I would guess that this couple is in their fifties, and he said that this had belonged to his mother.

Now, here's the surprise! This is not a table! The top folds back to reveal a desk!

And, then a board pulls out to offer a writing space!

And doesn't she have the prettiest legs?

I can't wait to start in on her makeover. Here is my dilemma, see the little shelves...like paper cubbies. I don't think I will be able to take that apart, so if anyone has any advise as to how I should tackle getting that area clean and repainted I would be extremely grateful!

I had so much fun, I couldn't stop there. So...I made this...

and this.....this one didn't get distressed cuz my sander went on the blitz. I also can't take credit for this design as the file was puchased and then a very kind graphic designer converted it for me so it would be compatible with my software.

Sanders working again and I was able to complete the last important couple of steps!

My first try at heavy distressing

After making several signs and only doing a small amount of distressing, I decided to try something different. Donna, from Funky Junk Interior did a tutorial on how she makes old signs. You can see her's here. I had to give it a try. The base coat of paint looks blue, but it is gray paint I made by mixing black and white. Lesson 1: it doesn't take much black paint to make gray(the color in the picture actually looks blue). I didn't completely cover the surface. Then I came back with a haphazard coat of Barn Red, again not completely covering the surface. I stenciled the design on and then attacked it with my palm sander. It looks okay from a distance so I think for awhile it will reside on top of my kitchen cabinets.

Picture Frame

Hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend! This is a picture frame I did for Funky Junk Interiors Saturday Night Special. This is just a very inexpensive picture frame from a dollar store. I simply removed the back and mat, cut the vinyl design in mirror image to apply to the back of the frame. I glued the glass into the frame. I added a few crystals to the front for a little bling. The picture is.....
well far from good, but since I haven't posted anything in a few weeks wanted to get this on.

Wooden Wine Crate Repurposed

I finally got around to going to a liquor store and asking if they had any wooden wine crates. PAY DIRT!!! I came home with 6 of them. This was the only one that would work for the project I had in mind. This box measures approximately
16"x12"X8". If you have been thinking about repurosing a wine crate, you should not have to pay more than $5 each, and if you are really lucky you might even get them for free. I was pretty sure I wanted to keep the Cellar No. 8 logo that was on the front panel. It was also on the top along with the ink from where someone had written on the wood. It had a shipping label on it when I first brought it home. I used some rubbing alcohol to remove it and the alcohol just smeared the ink more. No worries, I was going to turn the top panel over and use the blank side. I would be losing the notched finger pull area, but I already had an idea on how to fix that.

The first thing I did was take an ice pick to the top panel. I gouged the wood in several places by dragging the pick across the wood. I wish I had done more, but this is fairly thin pine wood and I didnt want to take any chances of splitting it.
Next, I measured out the area in which I would stencil my design and got busy creating it in Sure Cuts A Lot. I cut the design in temporary vinyl, pulled away the letters and placed the negative on the wood. Deciding to work off the colors in the logo I used Engine Red and Black acrylic paints, I stenciled the words on the wood. Once that was dry, I stained the entire box (inside and out) with Minwax Red Oak Stain (it was what I had on hand). The pictures were taken after just one coat of poly. I know I have to add at least one more coat.

The top slides and I thought that little boys fingers would need an easy way to get to his treasures, so I added a handle I already had in my stash.
Now, I am on a mission to find another of the Cellar No. 8 boxes, so my other Grandson does not feel left out.

First Subway Art

I used my sure cuts a lot program to design it, cut the words out of vinyl to use as a mask when I sprayed the cranberry colored paint on the canvas. Easy peasy. Thanks for stopping by!

Wine Glasses

These were done using the etch vinyl. By the time I got done I could have used a glass of wine.....but since I was working on these at 5 A.M. this morning and still had a full day of work ahead....well, I think not! I used the dry application method on one and the wet application method on the other. For this project I don't think it made a difference. I have found the etch vinyl very tricky to work with when doing a small design. It's difficult to keep the design in place during weeding. I would love to hear any tips you may have.

Old picture frame

Happy Sunday morning! This is a recycled picture frame from which I removed the mat and backing. I painted the frame itself with apple spice. I cut the design in mirror image so that I could apply it to the back of the glass. I just have it leaning aginst the wall so it is casting some shadows. I did a few flour sack towels The tea time towel was done with iron on transfer. The first 2 towels are not dirty. I took these pics outside and the tree must have been casting a shadow on them.

This towel I made for my sister. The word Gasthaus is the German translation for Inn. I used heat transfer vinyl on this one.

Many moons ago, I had purchased some iron on transfer paper, some cotton table napkins, and a cotton dish towel.....and they just went into the "to do later pile".
Then yesterday I came across Olive Rue's Etsy Shopand discovered a gold mine of designs. I recognized many of the elements of her designs from The Graphics Fairy
but since I don't have photo shop or any of those neat editing programs, I could not have known where to begin to create these wonderful designs. So, lucky for me, I had some money sitting in my paypal account that was just screaming...spend me spend me! And so I obliged and when I got home from work last night I got busy. I absolutely love this Vintage Junk Queen zippered pouch. Perfect for the flea market or garage sale goer. Just think, you can have both hands free to dig around looking for your treasures. I want to jazz it up a little with some trim....it's on the shopping list.

The iron on transfer paper is a little pricey, so I tried to squeeze as many designs onto one sheet that I could fit. The Queen Bee turned out just the right size for this onsie.

This is a sampling of napkins I did. The Robins Nest one is a graphic from The Graphic Fairy and I just added the text.

This is the dish towel. Need to get some more of these.

Onsies for Baby Maddie

My youngest son's life long friend just had his first baby. A little girl named Madeleine Rose. I made her a few onsies to add in with her gift. I got the SVG file for the I POOD one from Bobbie on the cricut forum. (Thanks Bobbie) The monogrammed one was done using KK monograms and the other I just played around with the letters to offset them a little. They were all done with Siser easy weed heat transfer vinyl. Thanks for looking and have a great week!

Bridge Tallies

The mother of a friend asked for some bridge tallies. She wanted a summer theme and a Christmas themed set. She supplied the graphics of the sailboat for the summer set and I choose some of my favorite vintage Christmas graphics to do the other set. Many of the graphics were found here. Karen, at the graphics fairy has wonderful images to get creative with.
I cut 3 1/2" X 9" strips of felt and pinked the edges. Once, I had sized and cut out the Christmas images, I edged them with gold stickles to give them a little glitz. With the felt folded in half, I adhered the graphic to the front using liquid fusion. The inside top holds the 2 table progressive chart and the bottom half holds a post it note for score keeping. Easy peasy, if you know a bridge player, it would be a very inexpensive and useful gift.

In a perfect world....

I would still be on vacation. But little by little reality is pulling me back into it's ugly grips. New York was wonderful! The weather was picture perfect! I went to the Suffolk County Detectives picnic, made a quick trip to New Jersey to meet my great neice and see her sister again, visited tons of farm stands, spent lots of time with family meeting all the new babies that have been born since I was there last and went to a sunset lobster bash. Gosh, I really did not want to come back. I was only back a couple of weeks and then headed to the Texas Coast to spend a few days at the beach with friends as the three of us were celebrating turning 60 this year. Back home, to have my son and his family visit for 4 days. Yes, getting back into work mode is a very harsh reality. I have done a few small things here and there. Nothing to write home about. But I thought I would share and let the world know I am still alive and kicking!

By now, my bags are packed and I'm ready to go! This morning I am boarding the plane and heading back to that old familiar place called home. Although, it has been decades since it has been my actual home, I am so excited to be heading to Long Island to take in all the old sights, stir up some old memories and spend some long overdue time with family. And if the temperature and humidity are below 95 degrees I"ll feel like I'm in heaven. I'll be back in touch next week!

A last minute project

I designed this sign to take to NY with me to give to my sister I purchased a 1X12 at Home depot and had them cut it into 20" lengths, then purchased some molding which was cut to the width of the board. I glued the molding on, primed and painted with Heirloom White. I cut the design out of black vinyl and applied it to the board. I really wanted to do some distressing with the sanding and staining, but ran out of time. I have a 4:00 AM wake up time so I am off to bed.

A curbside rescue

About a month ago when I was driving home from work, I noticed a neighbor had put a dining room chair out for the trash. From what I could see, there was nothing wrong with the chair other than the very 1970’s unattractive covering on the seat cushion. So, I waited for dark, walked outside and made sure no one was watching as I made my way to the chair and quickly carried it home. My daughter referred to this as dumpster diving. I was not about to let some young whippersnapper deter me from my plan. I first scrubbed it down, primed it then painted it heirloom white and distressed the heck out of it. I kinda got carried away with the distressing, but it was so much fun! Ultimately, I decided to go another route and painted it black, and NO DISTRESSING. I had originally planned to paint the design on the fabric I was going to cover the seat with. I cut the design on freezer paper, but then I could not figure out how to transfer the freezer paper from the Cricut mat and keep it intact so I decided to use iron on vinyl.

TOTAL COST OF THIS PROJECT 1 CAN OF SPRAY PAINT, I had everything else! I had taken a picture of the chair when I first brought it home, but the picture was mistakenly deleted from my camera. Just picture ugly

Wednesday afternoon, I received an order for 37 tiles for graduation gifts. I was excited as that is my biggest order ever. I went to work on them right after I got home from work on Wednesday and completed them this morning. I hope all the recipients enjoy them. I am happy to donate 10% of the proceeds of this sale to the Susan Komen Race for the cure 2010. I will do the same for all sales between now and October. I am especially happy to do this for the sale of these tiles, as the sweet woman who ordered them from me is a breast cancer survivor.

Repurposed Kitchen Cabinet Door

This is a kitchen cabinet door I picked up at Restore. I primed it, painted it blue then made a stencil of the design and painted the design on the door. I thought the blue was way too bright so I made a white wash by deluting some white paint with water and brushing it over the entire door. I did a little distressing by sanding the edges. Every weekend Donna from Funky Junk's Interior host a Saturday Night Special linky party. It's my favorite part of the weekend. That linky party has given me the courage to pull a perfectly good chair out of a neighbors trash (after dark of course) to try my hand at turning trash into a shappy chic treasure. More on that later. Last night I was looking at all the links and came across Stephanie from "Under the table and dreaming". I read the instructions for making her dry erase menu board and realized I had everything on hand to make my own. I had the frame in a closet, downloaded the typewriter keys she so generously shared, cut up a burlap sack I had picked up at a tractor supply store and cut the vinyl " Week at a glance" with my cricut.
My daughter stopped by today and saw the finished product and she now owns it! Hope you enjoy it Carrie!Sorry for the reflection. I tried to shoot this photo in a dozen different places to no avail>

Dance Recital Time

Next weekend I will be traveling down the road a bit to see my grandaughter's dance recital. She is a junior this year so there is just this year and next year to witness the beauty that comes across in her dancing. Also this year is father/daughter dance and I so enjoy that. I purchased a plain tote bag and personalized it with some iron on vinyl using Sure Cuts A Lot and the Cricut. I hope she likes it.

BNOTP Knock-off

Have you ever visited Susan's (from Between Naps on the Porch) blog? You must go see her porch. The first time I took the photo tour, I was just blown away by how she created such a pleasing and inviting space. There was one element that just made my heart sing. The sign that says "Summer Breeze makes me feel fine" It just made me smile and brought back a flood of memories. I just knew I had to make it. The board was a very rare find at the Restore. I go on a regular basis to find kitchen cabinet doors that I can make into something else. Whatever I do find usually has to be stripped of paint and hardware and then holes filled in. This board was completed paint free (yeah, no stripping) smoothe as a babies behind, (yeah, no sanding) all for 25 cents, and all I had to do was slap some paint on it, create a stencil using my Cricut Expression and Sure Cuts A Lot and I have it. I used ceramacoat light ivory and just plain basic black. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and although I really wish I had a screened in porch to hang it on, I don't. But, my sister does, so it is heading out in the mail to her.

The first one is always the hardest

I love all the beautiful decorative tassels I've been seeing. I wanted to make one but didn't want to spend any money since I didn't know if I'd be able to pull it off. My total cost for this was $2. I only used things I already had. I used the bottom of an unfinished nesting doll (which I had purchased many years ago) as the base. The fringe was left over from any earlier project, the ribbon was in my stash so I only needed to purchase a topper. I bought the bird that's on this tassel and another smaller one which I felt was the better size and I planned to use. They were $1 each at dollar tree. I bought the extra one because I didn't know how hard it would be to drill a hole in the top of it and knew the odds were pretty good I would break one. I did break the smaller one, but not while drilling. It just slipped out of my hand, hit the tile floor and shattered into a hundred pieces. I'm actually okay with how this turned out, although in my head it was supposed to be much prettier. At least I have a basic knowledge now of how to put it all together. Repurposing and preserving a memory

The other day I was retrieving some books from a closet and noticed 4 formal gowns that belonged to my mother. My mom passed away over 4 years ago. These were gowns she had worn to her grandchildrens weddings so I really did want to preserve them, but in a way that they would bring enjoyment to other family members rather than just hang there behind a closed door. I'm here to tell you cutting up a perfectly good gown is a really hard thing to do. First I removed the trim that was on the empire waist (notice the beaded flower embellishment) and cut a one flower apart from the rest of it. Then I cut a square from the very bottom of the dress. I traced a pattern on it to make a cone shape. Stitched some lace and the piece of the trim from the dress onto the satin fabric. I sewed the side, filled with some fiberfill and some potpourri, stitched the top closed and added a bow, some flowers and pearls. The gown had a toile petticoat and I had had cut some of that which I planned on using for the top and then forgot to add it, but I'll remember on the next one. I'm thinking of finding wedding pics where Mom is wearing the gowns and making some square sachets, printing the picture on fabric and attaching to the sachet. I have 4 long gowns to work with so please share any ideas you may have. I'm also thinking tooth fairy pouches for all the great grandchildren who have been born since she passed away.

Coasters from old magazine covers

Whenever my creative juices aren't flowing I can always fall back on making coasters. I sure am accumulating a bunch of coasters..LOL. These were made using images of very old magazine covers, several of these were published over 100 years ago. Wish I had the actual magazines. I'll bet they would make for interesting reading.

Daddy's Hands

I had a picture of a sketch of the hands and posted it on the craftedge forum asking for help to convert it to an svg. 3 people actually responded, and I ended up using anointed hands's file and then incorporated it into my design for the tile. It's one of my favorites.

A Valentine for my grandson

I started with a coaster box, which I made using some vintage Valentine paper, laced the sides of the coasters to make a box. I put a piece of styrofoam in the botton so I could stick the giant lollipop in it, then some red shred. I filled it with goodies and wrapped in with celophane and tied it up with some curly ribbon. I made 4 sets of 2 coasters each with vintage Valentine images for teacher gifts. In my usual and effecient manner I waited till the very last minute to get these done. The sizing on the image could have, and should have been a little more accurate (oh well, next time) After I wrapped them up in celephane I felt like they looked very bland, so I made some little box bottoms to spruce them up a little. Today marks the beginning of One World One Heart 2010. I am excited to participate again this year. So, off I go on my magic carpet to faraway lands where I will see
unique treasures. The folder is a repurposed manila folder which I have covered with graphic 45 playtimes past designer paper. Each pocket holds some grungy tags which has been coffee stained and the images inked with sepia.There are 16 tags total. I love vintage, but have never made anything quite like this. Happy Monday! I hope everyone was able to spend the weekend doing whatever they love to do. Here is a photo frame I made this weekend. It's just a 2x8x9 block of wood with paper decoupogded on it. I added a bulldog clip to hold the photo. "cute" was cut from plantin schoolbook at 2" and then I added some girlie trim. A fun and easy project. Thanks for looking.

Last night I was going through some of my vintage and letterpress images looking for inspiration and I came across this leave and acorn border. I decided to cut it and see how it turned out. Lot's of weeding and lot's of detail, but here is the result. I didn't get it applied straight, but since it doesn't have a straight line outter edge and I can sit it on an angle, maybe it won't be too noticable. Feel free to grab the image. Happy crafting!

This was a fun project. It was also the first time I wish I had design studio. I would have been able to get the images to scale. The images are just cut on white vinyl and placed on the inside of the shade. When the light is turned off, you don't even notice that they are there. Thanks for looking

Happy Sunday everyone. The weekends sure do go by quickly. I just wanted to share a tile I made yesterday for a friend battling breast cancer. Sadly, I need to make a couple more of these. I'm not very good at the designing part. This had so many words and I knew it might be difficult to weed so I kept the fonts very simple. My First tile with vinyl

After 2 weeks of total frustration, about 3 yards of wasted vinyl, it's all starting to come together. I never thought I would get the settings to where it would work. Most people are using 3 for pressure and 3 for blade depth, but I had to go with 6 for blade depth and 2 for pressure to get that kiss cut. It made all the difference in the world. Weeding is now so easy. Hopefully, my frustration on trying to learn inkscape will not last so long. This particular design was purchased from myvinyldesigner.com Thanks for looking

I made this layout for a contest at a local scrapbooking store. The picture of my grandson had an old world feel to it...so that's what I tried to go with. The paper is all Graphic 45 .Communique collection, the corrogated cardboard pieces were torn from an old box and inked up. The chipboard letters have been in my stash for years and just about everything else is Tim Holtz. I received a phone call last night telling me I won first place. I was pretty excited. The prize is the Cricut Create.

Graduation Card for New Nurse

A week and a half ago my daughter-in-law graduated from Nursing School. My sister flew down from NY and made the road trip with me to San Angelo to attend the pinning ceremony and graduation. It was an interesting trip. What should be a 7 hour drive took us 7 1/2 hours to get there and 10 1/2 hours to drive back. That's what happens when NY meets the wild west.

I am trying to send out a card every couple of days to my friend with leukemia. He has to be in a protective environment for awhile, since the chemo leaves you unable to fight infection. So with very limited visitors I thought I would do what I could to let him know I'm thinking about him. No cricut on this one, just a computer generated sentiment, nestibilities and some Ellison corner die cuts. Flowers are Prima's and I added some rain dots and buttons. The paper is Scenic Route north Shore collection and cardstock is Bazill. I know when he gets well, I'm really going to catch some flack about all those flowers! Thanks for looking!

I made this card for a friend who was just diagnosed with leukemia. He's having a rough time of it and has just finished a pretty intensive round of chemo. Faith was cut from Home Accents solution cartridge and I really don't remember what size. The calling bird was cut from joys of the season and once again I didn't write down the size. Every year my sister and her family have a St. Patricks Day party. I thought these would make perfect party favors. Each seed packet holds some green jelly beans. The Shamrocks were cut from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge at 1 3/4" and 3/4". The packets are personalized with name and town.

I wanted to make some glass blocks forChristmas gifts. I found some vintage Christmas graphics to use and used it on the front of the block and the frost spray paint on the back. Oh my, what fun creating these gift tags, can't wait to have a few hours free time to make a bunch of them. The tags were purchased at an office supply store and thanks to Anne's idea(madebyanne) on the cricut MB, I coffee stained them with vanilla added for fragrance, heavily distressed some sheet music added a little embellishment and ribbon and...done!

I'm so excited to be getting company this week. A friend from west Texas and another from Colorado are coming for 5 days. We are going to the International Quilt show. It has become a tradition for my friend Pat and I to attend this awesome event and we are thrilled that this year Sally will join us. I wanted to leave a little something in the quest room to welcome them, so I made each of them one of these boxes filled with chocolates. The Texas stamp is something that I happened across at a garage sale. A box of stamps for $2. I was thrilled when I got home and found this stamp amoung them.

yesterday I was glancing through some of the Splitcoast tutorials and found the directions to make this photo coaster, so I had to give it a try. This is my 17 month old grandson Bobby. You print the picture on tissue paper then decopouge it on to the tile. Next time I will try to use a picture without a dark background. I think it would work much better. I made this for a co-worker. I used walk in my garden for the wheelbarrow and the flower pots, but don't know at what size since I pulled it out of my previous cut mistakes. Flowers are primas and the sentiment is computer generated. The little birds are hand cut from a piece of paper. I added some rain dots and the corners are Jasmine.

The other night my dear daughter decided she wanted to buy me a bicycle. She even equipped it with a headlight and taillight for night riding. We got back home around 11:00 after riding around the neighborhood and I waited for her to go to bed so I could make her a thank you card. Well, here it is but next time I won't try to make a card when it's way past my bedtime. Looks kinda bland to me and I can look at it and tell myself I should have done this or that. But bottom line I wanted it to be there for her when she got up in the morning.

Last week I stopped by Michael's because I had a 50% off coupon that was burning a hole in my pocket. I've been looking for the Fiskers treading water punch and had not been able to find it. Well, bingo, I found it and they had more than one. I decided to pick up an extra and put on here for someone to win.

Altered CD Birthday Card

I made this birthday card for a very special lady who has a birthday coming up later this month.I used 3 cd's. The circles were all cut from the george cartridge. The flower was cut from Tags, Bags, Boxes and more cut in white at 2 1/2" mirror image ane embossed just the front flower with the cuttlebug swiss dot folder and then cut the printed paper @ 2" regular. The flower opens up and I wrote a message on it. The flourish which I used for the flower stem was cut from Accent Essentials at 1 1/2". The green scallop was cut with a Marvy punch and then embossed with cuttlebug. The scalloped frame on the cover was cut from stretch your imagination @ 2", I cut it 3 times to make it thicker and cut the layer 1 time in white and embossed with the cuttlebug. Dream and you inspire me were chip board from my stash as were the ribbons flowers and buttons. I bound it with the bind it all after I had covered the CD's with paper, but before embellishing. THE PICTURES ARE POSTED IN THE WRONG ORDER, THE BOTTOM ONE IS THE COVER AND THEN WORK YOUR WAY UP. Thanks for looking

I want to wish everyone a very happy
Safe 4th of July!
I will be leaving work early today
To drive 3 hours to meet my
son halfway between his house
and mine to pick up
my 19 month old grandson, and than drive
3 hours back home to keep him
for the weekend.
Then Sunday will make the trip again to
return the little one to Mom and Dad.
Since my youngest child is almost 30,
you can imagine that I am starting to get
a little nervous.
Since my scraproom
is my dining room, (and kitchen and living room)
I had to pack everything up and
Put it all out of reach of little fingers.
I was actually finding it
comical that I am so nervous. I raised 5 children,
They all survived. Anyway, I wrote this little poem
to explain what has been happening
At my house.

Oh dear, there’s so much stuff I say.
Way too much to put away, but choking and cutting things
Must go out of sight, dangers to babies cause
Such a fright.
So, I fill all my closets with
All of my treasures, The tools, embellies and papers that bring
Me such pleasure.
And now I feel lost, but it’s so
worth the cost
as snuggles and hugs
are far better than my bugs.
But when will I shower,
When will I sleep.
Oh dear, in apprehension
I am knee deep.
But I know in the end

Fathers Day Card

The verse inside this card was written by Dawn Babilon, the daughter of some very dear friends of mine. She wrote this for her dad and gave it to him for fathers day some years back. If you use the verse please give Dawn credit. The outside was just Dad cut at 2 1/2" and I added some rain dots, the stamp is SU.

A gift of cards

I made another gift set of thank you cards. They come out much better when you're not throwing them together as I did in the previous one. I love working with black and white and Imaginisce makes this wonderful paper collection called black tie optional. It was just what I needed for this project. The scallop cirle was made with nestabilities, and stamped with coffe house alphabet. I used a Martha Stewart punch on the strip of white card stock. Inside of the folder I included 8 thank you cards.

A birthday card for my sister

I think these double pocket cards have become a life saver for me. When I want a special card and the creative juices are not flowing, this is the perfect solution. I think they are so pretty I hope my sister likes it.

I have a very large box of scraps that somehow once they go in there they don't get used much. So I have decided that when I am working with paper I like I will try to get as many cards out of it as possible. Here are a couple I made with walk in my garden cartridge.

Altered Notebook

I needed a $5 Chinese Auction gift so decided to alter a composition book. The paper is fancy pants. On the inside of the front cover I added a pocket to hold notes. I did add Jasmine corners to the top right and bottom right corners but didn't get another picture of it.These are so easy to do and have so many uses.

Just a little hostess gift

Made this for a hostess gift. I made 8 note cards, 4 thanks you and 4 just a note. I thought about just tying them together with a ribbon, but decided to try to make a folder for them. I used a 12 X 12 piece of card stock, scored it at 6" and 4" in the other direction. Folded up the 4" piece sewed the outer edges to form pockets and then folded in half. Embellished the front and added eyelets to the edge of the opening to add ribbon to tie it shut.
